Clissold Park User Group (CPUG)

The Clissold Park User Group (CPUG) has been campaigning locally to improve Clissold Park for more than ten years. It meets every two months on average, and meetings are open to all, and usually last no more than an hour. Officers are elected at the Annual General Meeting. Most of the work of the group is done in the public meetings, or in small working groups.

The CPUG has built up a good working relationship with the current park manager and his staff, and users' views are usually taken seriously and acted upon.

In recent years the CPUG has:

  • Successfully campaigned to stop the closure of the paddling pool and deer enclosure.
  • Raised funds and organised summer programmes of activities for children and young people.
  • Advised and supported the Council in making better and more appropriate arrangements for leasing the cafe to meet park users' wishes.
  • Worked with park staff and Hackney tree specialists to promote a more substantial tree-planting programme.
  • Lobbied Councillors to increase funding and staffing.
The CPUG represents all those parents and carers of young children, sports players, joggers, dog-walkers, nature-lovers, free spirits who value the opportunity to enjoy time outdoors in this historic and beautiful park.
If you want to participate in the CPUG come to our meetings or get in touch via the Rangers' office or by emailing CPUG .
